QUESTIONS OFTEN ASKED:

Why does it seem so much of our equipment is labeled "from the original owner"?

Since opening our doors back in 2014 in Long Beach CA and after 12 years in business, our unique offerings of vintage stereo equipment have attracted many folks from all over the country.
Lots of vintage HiFi guys (mostly guys anyway) don't want to deal with Craigslist, Facebook, etc and face having to meet strangers to either buy, sell or ship their vintage gear.  They'd rather be in an environment they are familiar with, sometimes to reminisce about the "good old days".
Sometimes they may feel better knowing their treasured pieces of gear are being restored and off into the hands of others who also treasure them.
Back in the 70's, shops like ours were common and found almost everywhere.  Today, it's hard to find this type of business, while some do exist, they are few and far between.

What forms of payment do we accept?
We only accept PayPal or cash.  No exceptions.

Do we ship?
Essentially, the answer is no.  However, if we have the original shipping boxes and packing materials, we will probably make an exception.

What type of repairs and restoration services do we offer?

We deal primarily with vintage ANALOG STEREO equipment.  While some may consider the late 80's and 90's as vintage, we generally do not.  As a rule of thumb, gear produced during the 70's and into the early 80's are our main focus.  Of course there are many excellent components that were produced between the late 80's and continuing up to today.  As such, we may occasionally have hand-picked pieces that are currently available in the market.
As with many situations, we may make exceptions. We will consider it case by case.
If parts are available and the unit can potentially be fixed we will take a look at it for you.   We do not charge for the initial testing of the unit while you are here in person. Sometimes you must weigh the actual value of a certain piece before you make the plunge into potentially expensive repairs.

If you live hundreds of miles away and we have the original box and you want to buy a particular piece of equipment from us, what can happen?
The first question you will be asked is "do you know of a qualified tech in your area that can actually repair it if something happens to it later on?"  If your answer is "no", then we will strongly advise you to think carefully about it before you spend any money.

Why vintage?

Generally speaking, the era of vintage audio, from slightly before 1971 through 1981 and slightly thereafter, comprised the gilded age of hi-fi and the ripe years of RCA Living Stereo, Radio Shack, record and tape clubs (“Get 12 records for a penny!”). This era of audio embodies the work of such names as Saul Marantz, Hermon Hosmer Scott, Rudy Bozak, James B. Lansing, Paul Klipsch, David Hafler, and Henry Kloss—dead guys with ears. These guys used the absolute best minds available to design and engineer sonic marvels that have stood the test of time as icons in a world now dominated by knock-offs from China, home theater, Sonos and so on.

Today, audiophiles (and "regular folks") are simply those who are either passionate or just plain interested about high-quality sound reproduction and the equipment used to produce the sound, as well as the music itself.
Vintage audio equipment has the potential to deliver rich and authentic sound when it is properly restored.
Not only can it enhance your listening experience, but it can also evoke memories and bring joy to your life.
